Rowdy Games Launches COUP de GRâCE, A Fast Paced, 2-Player Combat Board Game Hermitage, TN (Monday, January 08, 2007) Rowdy Games announced the launch of a new combat board game entitled COUP de GRâCE. The two-player board game is a highly competitive, highly addictive combat game. COUP de GRâCE comes with 32 combat pieces, a combat board and a combat guide complete with 15 action-packed scenarios. COUP de GRâCE employs no dice, spinners or playing cards and is designed to be played out on a 32-square playing board. Incorporating skill and a bit of luck, a player must completely annihilate their opponent in order to win most scenarios. COUP de GRâCE is billed as a fast-paced, easy-to-learn, yet challenging combat board game. Each player starts with 16 pieces. Of those 16 pieces, there are seven types: an HQ, a tank, a humvee, a cannon, an infantry unit, a helicopter and a Special Forces unit. All of the pieces have specific attacking and defending strengths: stronger pieces take out weaker pieces while ties always go to the attacker. All of the gaming pieces can only move one square at a time, except the helicopter which has special movements for long-range attacking. Each game lasts anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour depending upon the scenario. COUP de GRâCE is quick to set up and it can be played most anywhere: all you need is a partner. "COUP de GRâCE is a very challenging game, but very easy to play", commented Rowdy Games' Chief Gaming Engineer, Gerald Coffey. "Like most war games, some battles get very intense; yet unlike most war games, most COUP de GRâCE scenarios can be completed in under an hour. Which is great because if you lose the first game, there's generally time left to play another to even up the score. And COUP de GRâCE is played without dice, so the level of chance is very low." The game creators, Gerald Coffey and Stuart Schuman, went all out to ensure a fun gaming experience for all that play COUP de GRâCE. There are 15 separate fun-filled scenarios each with its own set of rules and names like Gravy, Assault, Rally Point, Sitting Ducks and Berserk. The standard scenario starts with all pieces mixed up and placed face down on the combat board. Players go in turns flipping over pieces, moving or attacking. In some scenarios, pieces are placed on the board face-up one at a time and at other times only key pieces are left exposed while the others are turned upside down. Rowdy Games boasts a web site that users can access for new scenarios and can even send in their own scenario concepts to be posted on the COUP de GRâCE website. "One of the best things about this game is the fact that it is very flexible," commented Rowdy Games' Chief Gaming Officer, Stuart Schuman. "Like a deck of cards, you can create numerous unique variations to keep it fresh and exciting. Thus, we thought it would be great to challenge our customers to come up with their own versions of COUP de GRâCE and e-mail them to us. If the scenarios are suitable, we'll post them on our web site." COUP de GRâCE is currently available online in the U.S. through Rowdy Games' web site. The designers are planning on teaming up with U.S. distributors next year and European distributors the following year.
